Great Christmas Light Fight winning drone show company

As huge Christmas fans, the Ward family is honored to be featured on The Great Christmas Light Fight, bringing drone light shows to this ABC show for the very first time! The Great Christmas Light Fight is a reality competition where families compete to create the most elaborate and festive Christmas light displays on their homes. What had started as a fun light show to put on for the neighbors elevated to become a carefully orchestrated light and sound display that would become the first Great Christ Light Fight drone show. The Ward family’s display featured over 20,000 pixel-pushed lights, 8 moving heads, talking Christmas trees, and, of course, 400 drones over their house!

Taking Christmas Lights to New Heights: The First-Ever Drone Light Show

Season 11, Episode 2, kicked off with a bang, showcasing three incredible Christmas displays that were tough to beat. While other houses took a more traditional approach to Christmas lights, the Ward family took things to new heights with this jaw-dropping drone light show. With new techniques developed to animate the show, this became one of Sky Elements’ favorite drone displays to date. A drone light show and the stories you can tell with one are only limited by one’s imagination. The Sky Elements in-house animation team thrives when it has the ability to fly a unique story, such as the one told in The Great Christmas Light Fight. After countless hours of hanging lighting matrices on windows, setting up mega trees, and cleaning each drone by hand, the Ward family was ready to unveil the biggest Great Christmas Light Fight display yet.

Crafting a Unique Story: Poppy the Penguin in the Winning Drone Show

For this show, the Sky Elements team wanted to tell a new story with familiar characters. The Great Christmas Light Fight winning drone show revolves around Poppy, a tiny penguin that receives a huge surprise: Santa’s bag of toys. After falling from Santa’s sleigh, Poppy did her best to return the bag in the most pristine condition. After dragging it through the snow, Poppy’s search for Santa began. Santa spotted Poppy and picked her and the bag up to help deliver toys around the world. The original Christmas tale captured the hearts and minds of ABC’s audience, resulting in a one-of-a-kind experience that hasn’t been seen in 10 seasons of The Great Christmas Light Fight.

Christmas drone shows in Texas

The house itself was comprised of over 20,000 Christmas lights that were programmed to sync to music. Countless hours went into crafting the perfect show to compliment the story told in the sky. This Christmas drone show was the kickoff to Sky Elements’ Christmas season. Sky Elements just came off a weekend of 25 drone shows across the country. With a determined team of impressive pilots, crew members, and animators, the team got it done. The shows were mostly comprised of drone shows in North Texas, however, Sky Elements flew drone shows for events in Florida, California, North Carolina and more!

Dallas Hope Mommies: A Cause Close to the Ward Family’s Heart

After each episode of The Great Christmas Light Fight, one family wins $50,000. The Ward family took home the prize this episode, but they wanted to give back to a cause they felt deeply connected to. The Dallas Hope Mommies are a non-profit 501c3 that helps families dealing with the loss of a child. After the loss of their infant daughter Briley in 2020, Preston and Tara Ward learned about the organization and joined. The organization creates a safe place for parents who’ve suffered from the pain of losing a child to gather and talk with others who’ve been through something similar. The Hope Mommies come together to create “hope boxes,” which are comprised of a soundtrack, a bible, a book, a candle, and other mementos that are given to parents who’ve just gone through child loss.

Raising Awareness: A Drone Show for Wave of Light

In October, Preston and Sky Elements flew a 300-drone show for the annual Wave of Light. The Wave of Light occurs during Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month and is a day for families to light a candle across the world in remembrance of their child. Preston and his team took it a step further, flying a 300-foot-tall candle to help raise awareness about the day. Preston’s team flew a beautiful drone show honoring his daughter in a remarkable way. Having the opportunity to give back to an organization that gave the Wards so much is an honor.
