After an incredible year of drone shows, Sky Elements is excited to usher in a new era of aerial entertainment in 2024. The team worked diligently through the holiday season to make this New Year’s Eve memorable for folks across the United States. From Auburn, Maine, to Honolulu, Hawaii, Sky Elements successfully launched over a dozen drone shows nationwide. The largest drone show launched on New Year’s Eve was the 500-drone show Sky Elements, performed next to the Space Needle in Seattle, Washington. This year was filled with many firsts for the team, and we’re looking forward to making more memories in the new year.
Maine, Massachusetts, South Carolina, and Florida Drone Shows Flew First
The East Coast said Happy New Year first with seven New Year’s Eve drone shows.
Sky Elements celebrated with crowds from all over, from New England to the Florida Panhandle! Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, flew 200 drones over The Market Common, the Southern Times Square. A gorgeous crape myrtle flower blossomed over the square as onlookers counted down to 2024. Auburn, Maine, and New Bedford, Massachusetts, flew a combined 250 drones, illuminating the skies over the Northeast. The Southeast cities of Baytowne Wharf and Sarasota, Florida, opted for drone shows for their New Year’s celebrations, keeping the teams busy all night!
Dallas’ Reunion Tower Flew a 500-Drone New Year’s Eve Drone Show With Texas City and Pharr!
Everything’s bigger in Texas, and Reunion Tower’s Lonestar New Year’s Eve wasn’t different with this massive drone display and fireworks show! Onlookers gathered to watch a stylized New Year’s Eve drone show, creating images of music from each decade up to 2024. The drone show featured images from the Roaring 20s to the Summer of Love in the 1960s. The 70s featured scenes from the disco, while the 80s had Pac-Man eating ghosts!
The 1990s brought back MC Hammer doing the Hammer Dance in his golden pants, while the 2000s rang in the age of the iPod. There was another countdown to 2024 before Reunion Tower erupted with hundreds of fireworks, delighting the crowd and kicking off the New Year perfectly in the Central time zone.
The West closed out 2023 with a drone show at the Space Needle and a Lake Tahoe drone show
The Emerald City flew a 500-drone show right next to the Space Needle, bringing the West Coast into 2024. The Seattle drone show flew alongside the country’s largest structurally launched fireworks display. The drone show revolved around the origins of the Needle at Seattle Center, showing images of a UFO flying over the mountains surrounding Seattle.
The UFO safely lands atop the Needle, creating what we know today as the Space Needle! North Star California Resort in Truckee, California, launched its New Year’s Eve drone show displaying winter sports bigger than ever before. The show featured skiers and snowboarders riding lifts to shred the gnar in this winter drone show!
With the continental US heading to bed, Hawaii kicked off 2024 with 300 drones!
Sky Elements sang Auld Lang Syne as they finished 2023’s drone shows with one last show in Honolulu! The Hawaii drone show created many long-lasting memories with images of hula girls, dolphins, and a champagne toast to the new year. The Hawaiian drone show returned this year with double the drones after a successful celebration in 2023. Hawaiian drone shows are happening more frequently and have taken center stage alongside the many fireworks displays across the islands. Sky Elements Hawaii, the new franchise behind the drone shows, looks forward to more drone light shows in 2024.
Rosebowl drone show for the Tournament of Roses on New Year’s Day
Sky Elements flew the Rose Bowl’s first-ever drone show with its first drone show of 2024. The Tournament of Roses hosted a game between the University of Michigan and the University of Alabama.
After a near-record viewership game between the two schools, the Michigan Wolverines came out on top. Once the dust settled, fans stuck around for the Rose Bowl drone show. The show flew the logos of both teams and celebrated the New Year much like the shows the night before. The crowd cheered as the drones created The Granddaddy of Them All. As Michigan was presented with the trophy, a glorious 400-foot trophy rose above them. The excitement was palpable in what would truly be a Rose Bowl game to remember.
