SAN DIEGO, CA – Petco Park was lit up by drones Friday night as Sky Elements put on yet another drone show after the game. The Sky Elements team is busy flying drone shows across the league as baseball season gets into full swing. The San Diego Padres joined the growing list of MLB teams seeking an alternative to their post-game fireworks shows. After Friday night, it was clear that this new form of post-game entertainment is here to stay. Take a look at what fans got to see after the game!
The Padres drone show packed the stands, keeping eyes on the skies
This San Diego drone show was a tribute to Padres players. Any fan, young or old, enjoyed the spectacle put on by 300 drones. After a harrowing 9th inning, the Padres would lose to the St. Louis Cardinals 6-2. That didn’t stop hundreds of fans from staying for the post-game drone show. The audience packed the stands, grabbed a snack, and looked towards the skies over center field.
Petco Park; illuminated by drones
The drones took off and cast a majestic glow over the fans at Petco Park. The drones transitioned into the statue of Tony Gwynn, aka Mr. Padre. A ball is pitched to him, and as he hits the ball, the statue radiates into full color. We then transition into Trevor Time, the entrance for Hall of Fame closer Trevor Hoffman. Hell’s Bells by AC/DC played as fans roared, hearing Hoffman’s entrance music come on. We transitioned again from Hoffman’s statue of his pitching motion to the colorized version as the ball leaves his hand.
Honoring San Diego Padres giants by depicting them in the sky
The show continued with drone depictions of Jake Peavy and Joe Musgrove celebrating his no-hitter, both donning #44. Sky Elements recreated iconic moments like Ha-Seong Kim dropping his helmet for the hundredth time and Fernando Tatis Jr. jumping for an outfield catch. The last player recognized was Manny Machado, blowing a giant bubble. We close the show with the Padres’ gold SD logo embossed across the San Diego skyline. Last but not least, we flew an ode to where the San Diego Padres call home: 20 years of Petco Park.
Sky Elements is not a stranger to San Diego drone shows
San Diego drone shows are becoming more popular. Sky Elements often flies drone shows in San Diego and is the go-to drone show company for Californians up and down the state. While Los Angeles is the hotspot, the San Diego skyline is getting transformed into a gorgeous palette for drone shows. Take our Comic-Con drone show flown for the release of Futurama’s latest season on Hulu. Sky Elements also performed that show at Petco Park for an audience outside the stadium! Comic-Con attendees, donned in Futurama cosplay, gazed at the skies when characters from their favorite series took shape.
The future of drone shows in San Diego
