Halo Drone Light Show and QR Code
What do you get when you take the futuristic elements of the Halo world and blend them with the cutting-edge technology of the 21st century? A drone light show over Austin, Texas celebrating the games and promoting the latest addition to the Halo family. Having played copious hours of Halo in our lives, it’s safe to say that we have fond memories of this game series. So, when we got the invitation to be a part of the launch promotion for this new show, ‘excited’ is maybe putting it lightly.
We paired up with Giant Spoon to fly a drone light show promoting Paramount+’s new television series Halo, which is based on the wildly-popular Xbox game about a warrior fighting off an alien invasion. The drone show, which was part of the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival, was done in conjunction with a series premiere at the conference and flew a total of six times in different locations across the span of two evenings.

For this drone light show, we used 400 of our drones for a completely custom 10-minute display that featured iconic images and characters from the game series. Some of the highlights of this show included a 300-foot-tall Master Chief, a 3D M12 Warthog with spinning wheels, and the Paramount and Halo logos. The amazing Halo drone show also included a working, scannable Halo QR code that took onlookers below to a webpage where they could watch the halo series trailer and see a countdown to the series launch. The show including the drone Halo QR code stretched over 600 feet across the night sky and was visible all the way to downtown Austin, generating excitement and buzz both locally and from news agencies across the country. The drone show was even featured on the Today Show!
