HOUSTON, TX | Beyonce’s Renaissance Tour made a notable stop at the NRG Stadium on September 23rd. The Houston native was celebrated citywide, including a welcome home party featuring 400 drones, fireworks, and more! The City of Houston hosted a free Hou Run the World Celebration on Avenida Plaza on Saturday night for fans to express their love for Beyonce’s homecoming. The Beyonce drone show was a tribute centerpiece to the event, including formations representing famous characteristics, lyrics, and moments from Beyonce’s career.
Paying homage to Bey’s music and career
The Houston drone show kicked off with Crazy Right Now playing as the drones took their formations. The track switches to Bey’s hit from her sixth album, Lemonade: Formation. The drones transition to lemonade, giving the audience their first taste of this iconic drone show. The drones then morph to reveal a gigantic bottle of Tabasco sauce as a nod to the lyrics from Formation. The sauce becomes a colossal baseball bat, smashing windows and causing chaos, like in the music video for Hold Up, where Bey smashes up some cars!
Iconic moments and lyrics were brought to life in the sky with this Beyonce drone show.
The music transitions to Cuff It, and a 200-foot horse appears as tall as the buildings surrounding it! The horse’s mane flows, and its feet kick as it illuminates the audience below. The horse twinkles to become a disco ball, both references to Beyonce’s Grammy award-winning album, Renaissance. Continuing within the album, we transition to a bright purple Virgo symbol, nodding to Bey’s lusty song, Virgo’s Groove. Moving away from Renaissance, Sky Elements took it back a decade, transitioning pieces to Single Ladies. A hand appears in the sky with a ring floating down to her ring finger. We liked it, so we put a ring on it!
A tribute to Beyonce’s loyal fandom: The BeyHive
The drones then transitioned to create a massive beehive with a tiny bumblebee flying around it. No Beyonce drone show would be complete without an image from Beyonce’s core fandom: The BeyHive. BeyHive members of all ages gathered to sing along and watch the show as it lit up downtown Houston. The drones wrapped up the show by creating the shape of Texas with a big Texas star on the Southeastern city. H-TOWN was spelled out in drones before it transitioned to a rocket.
H-Town soars: a finale fit for Texas
The drone show was a magnificent success, and all in attendance were in great spirits as the drone rocket ship flew back to its final grid to land. Sky Elements frequents the Houston area and is the go-to drone show provider for all of Texas. Houston felt Sky Elements’ presence this past spring as they rode into town for the Houston Rodeo for a three-week run. A total of approximately 350,000 rodeo attendees witnessed the rodeo drone show.
