Concert Drone Light Show
Artists all around the world spend their careers dreaming of performing at the Red Rocks Amphitheater in Denver, Colorado, and honestly, who can blame them. There’s something about this place that makes it truly unique from other venues and its vast and fascinating history, dating back to its first concert in 1906, catapults this space into a league entirely of its own. Couple this with its elite lineup of legendary performances as well as being the location of the Colorado Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and you get a music experience unlike any other. So when we got the opportunity to team up with Svdden Death to put on the very first drone light show Red Rocks Amphitheater had ever seen in October 2021, we were all in.
Red Rocks Amphitheater saw its very first concert back in 1906 when John Walker, the owner of the land at the time, put up a temporary stage in what he called the “Garden of Titans” to fulfill his dream of music in what he felt was a perfect acoustic space between the rocks. This concert was called The Grand Opening of the Garden of Titans and featured a 25-piece brass band for entertainment. Several years later, in 1911, renowned Scottish opera singer Mary Garden put Red Rocks Amphitheater on the world stage when she performed there and called it the finest venue she had ever performed at. The amphitheater was later sold to the City of Denver in 1927 and construction of the amphitheater we know today began. It finally opened to the public in 1941 and has hosted a regular concert season since 1947.
For this amazing concert drone show, we worked directly with Svdden Death’s team to bring to life a drone experience that would perfectly accompany and amplify the feel of the event. Our 30-drone light show took to the skies over the iconic “Stage Rock” during the much-anticipated Voyd set in a perfect display of modern technology above rocks that have seen the last 160 million years go by. Spiraling nearly 400 feet above the stage, the drone light show aimed to create a more immersive experience for everyone in attendance and pushed what fans come to expect as the standard lighting and sound effects over the top. And with the ability to completely customize the drone light show in every aspect from size to color to image arrangement, drone light shows are quickly proving to be the new frontier for the music and entertainment industry.
We were honored to have had the opportunity to be included in one of the many historic moments in Red Rocks Amphitheater’s incredible history and to have seen for ourselves the walls covered with the marks of legendary performers from all genres and styles. This is truly a venue unlike any other and we hope that we will be fortunate enough to return for another drone light show someday soon.
