Jack Daniels Drone Show on Brodway

Drone Shows have become a great way to market your product, reach your target audience, and leave a lasting impression.

Elevating A Classic

Even as a historic brand, it’s important to make history from time to time. Jack Daniels pushed the envelope with the newest form of out-of-home marketing – a Sky Elements Drone Show. The famed and classic Tennessee Whiskey has its roots deep in the heart of the state. From Broadway in Nashville to Beale St. in Memphis, there isn’t a person in Tennessee who doesn’t know Jack Daniels. Even as the leader in Tennessee whiskey, it’s important to remind people who’s on top.

When youre looking to do a drone show for marketing purposes its important to do it right. At Sky Elements we help brands activate in ways that get attention in their target markets. It takes more than a drone show to get eyes on your brand - you need a Sky Elements Drone Show.

How to Choose the Right Location For Your Drone Show

Nashville is known for music and celebration. Tennessee is known for whiskey. It’s a pair that has been inseparable for generations. Jack Daniels is a generational brand and was looking to add a wow moment to their corporate event that extended beyond tradition. The answer was obvious – a Sky Elements drone show over Broadway.

This drone show was able to achieve two things at once: both a celebration of all the hard work put in by the Jack Daniels team and an out-of-home marketing moment that generated 100,000+ in-person impressions.

Drone shows have proven across the country to be a unique and captivating way to market any brand. However, a drone show on its own might not be enough for your next brand lift. It’s important to consider how to do it right if you want to make a splash.

Best Practices for Drone Shows and Brand Marketing

When planning a drone show for an event, a marketing campaign, or as part of a production, doing it right matters. This Jack Daniels drone show is a case study in getting it right — and how Sky Elements helped make it happen.

Go Where the People Are
When planning a drone show, consider who will see it. While that sounds simple, it can be challenging. It's hard to find a location with nightlife that also allows for a safe drone show — avoiding people, vehicles, and critical infrastructure. This Jack Daniels show is a perfect example. The audience had a clear line of sight, and the show flew safely without compromise.

Try New Things
It’s important to stand out. With drone shows becoming more popular, your activation needs to be different. It’s not enough to just have your logo in the sky. Your brand deserves to rise above the rest. Connect with us at Sky Elements to talk through the latest in drone show entertainment and how we can elevate your activation.

Be Yourself
Lean into what makes your brand unique. While thinking outside the box is great, you don’t always need to break the mold. A great drone show should reflect what makes your brand special. Jack Daniels knew exactly what made them iconic, and the drone show showcased that. Your audience should instantly recognize your brand but still be surprised by what comes next.

How Many Drones Do You Need for a Drone Show?

Choosing the right drone count is one of the most important factors in making your brand’s activation unforgettable. When deciding how many drones you need, start by thinking about the most complex image in your show.

Some visuals, like a detailed face made of drones, will require a higher drone count for clarity and impact. In contrast, simpler designs, like a logo, can be achieved with fewer drones.

Ultimately, it comes down to balancing what you want to see with the budget you’re working with. A great drone show should never lack visual impact.

If you’re unsure about the right drone count for your activation, connect with Sky Elements. We can help you design a show that fits your vision and your budget.

How Do More Drones Change a Drone Show?

The more drones you have in a drone show, the higher the resolution your images will have. Take the two examples below: one at Navy Pier in Chicago and the other in Nashville for Jack Daniels. Both shows featured a portrait of a prominent figure, but one had fewer drones.

While both images were recognizable, the Jack Daniels show had more drones, which allowed for more detail in the design. This is a great example of how having more drones can make a difference in achieving the look you’re going for.

A Few Challenges

With live events, you always have to expect the unexpected. At Sky Elements, we’ve produced thousands of drone shows and have seen it all. But no matter how experienced you are, there’s always something new.

For this production, Jack Daniels scheduled their party on the same day as the Rock N' Roll Marathon. That meant limited city resources, our ideal launch site was already rented out, and options were shrinking fast.

With our backs against the wall, the team got to work.

We coordinated directly with the marathon organizers to secure space without disrupting their event. We worked with the city to secure every permit necessary. We hired private security to secure the launch site and maintain a safe flight area. All of this came together in just a few weeks to make the show happen. None of it would’ve been possible without the Sky Elements team navigating every challenge to deliver a permitted, safe, and unforgettable drone show.

In Conclusion

The Jack Daniels drone show is a case study in how a legacy brand can embrace new technology to make a bold statement. The Jack Daniels team partnered with Sky Elements to pull off a world-class drone show — done right. Despite unique challenges and unseen roadblocks, our teams worked together to create one of the most memorable and impactful drone shows in recent memory.
