Our Mission
On August 2nd 2025, Sky Elements delivered a grand finale drone performance for Two Friends at Lollapalooza 2025 in Chicago, with 500 drones and 100 pyro drones creating a powerful highlight of the close the night. Sponsored by Patrón Tequila, the activation combined custom formations, synchronized visuals, and Pyro Drones to create one of the festival’s most talked-about moments.
Client & Sponsor Goals
Two Friends & Lollapalooza wanted to:
- Elevate their festival set with a visually unforgettable finale.
- Sync visuals with precision to their biggest songs for maximum crowd impact.
- Create shareable moments to extend the set’s lifespan on social media.
Patrón Tequila wanted to:
- Tie their brand to a major cultural event in front of a trendsetting audience.
- Generate earned media through a breakthrough, high-visibility activation.
- Align with nightlife and innovation in live entertainment.
Creative Highlights
The drone show delivered with some iconic branding beats, like the Two Friends logo, Lollapalooza logo, Patrón bottle and logo, but one of the most memorable moments came during the live debut of Way It Was featuring Quinn XCII on saxophone, drones formed a giant saxophone in the sky, with pyro drones simulating flames shooting from it. On stage, Quinn’s real saxophone featured a pyro sparkler effect, syncing perfectly for a jaw-dropping mic-drop moment.
In-between songs, the duo, Eli Sones and Matthew Halper, used the opportunity to announce to their fans the return of their high anticipated event, Big Bootie Land, which will be returning to Chicago on May 16th 2026. When drones formed the info, fans got hyped.
Technical Execution
When integrating drone shows with live entertainment, timing is key. Sky Elements is flexible to time the beginning and moments throughout the show with millisecond precision to music, fireworks, lasers, and other stage effects. For Two Friends, we opted to do a manual start with a timecode monitor, to hit our cue precisely while still keeping the flow of the show organic. Pyro Drones added an extra wow factor to key formations that were important to emphasize.
Results
- Millions of social media views, turning the performance into a viral festival highlight.
- Massively successful branded spectacle for Patrón that resonated with both live attendees and online audiences.
- One of the most memorable closing sequences in Two Friends’ live show history.
